Passwords come in various styles and formats. TechIDManager has always supported randomly generated passwords of any length. Recently, we introduced an additional option: users can now choose between a fully random password or one based on a word list.
If you select the word list option, you can specify the number of words in the password and customize the word list itself. This allows users outside the U.S. to include foreign words, while those in the U.S. can use a predefined list, such as the Electronic Frontier Foundation’s long password list, which requires at least 6,000 unique words.
This feature was added based on partner requests. When switching to the word list option, passwords will be updated during the next rotation. These passwords will consist of multiple words, followed by exactly two symbols and two numbers. This format ensures compliance with Active Directory (AD) requirements, which often mandate symbols and numbers—something a purely word-based password wouldn’t meet.
With the word list feature, you get a combination of easy-to-remember words, followed by required symbols and numbers, making passwords both secure and user-friendly.
