TechIDManager’s tree-based structure enables techs to organize managed accounts and passwords in a highly customizable manner. The Management Console lets managers in TechIDManager organize credentials hierarchically using a tree-like structure. All techs then see the credentials in the same structure to allow them to find information faster.
To do this, you can click the Agents tab, then the Leaves tab, or click the gear icon next to the agent you want to categorize. This tree structure can be as narrow or broad as you need, and you have the flexibility to name the leaves as desired. The same tree structure is also available for organizing Vault Passwords.
The system restricts technicians to viewing only the account “leaves” containing items they have permissions to access.
Managers can add, modify, or remove leaves as necessary. In the Management Console, leaves can be managed by navigating to the Agents tab, then the Leaves tab, and clicking the gear icon. This screen allows addition, modification, or removal of the path of a leaf as required. Additionally, all agents and vault credentials associated with that leaf can be viewed.
In the DomainService setup, there is an option to specify the leaf that the agent will be installed under in your Tree system. This setting, called “leaf value,” is available in version 5.0 and newer. The leaf you specify must already exist in the Management Console, and the name must match exactly. Otherwise, the agent installation request will be ignored. The use of quotes (“…”) is recommended. (See more here )
The tree-based structure of this approach gives techs more organization and efficiency when accessing accounts and passwords in TechIDManager.
